As a leader, more than ever, high self esteem is necessary. As an executive in a company, it is mandatory for the success of that company. A leader with low self esteem will lead the company into peril.
High Self Esteem means you think enough of yourself to respect your Self and have the awareness to know that respect is necessary in any interaction. When you respect others, you treat each person like they mattered and what they say is of importance.
Everyone has talents and abilities that are uniquely theirs. It's the how, why, and where ideas come from in us. Ideas either remain just insubstantial thoughts or they are allowed to expand, give direction to further thoughts, and culminate in action. It has been said the difference between a thinker and an inventor is action. What is the single most determining factor in whether or not we will act on an idea? Self Esteem. You must think enough of yourself to realize you can do it.
People with low self esteem think nothing of themselves nor anything or anyone else. Therefore any thoughts and ideas generated are worthless by association. They can no more direct their thoughts than they could direct a person. They are useless as leaders. They can't treat themselves well because they don't know how. Consequently they have no way of knowing how to treat others well, both peers and support staff.
When the ancient Egyptian tombs were opened, seeds were found. Thousands of years old, these seeds still grew when they were planted and nourished. It is never too late to change, to begin to develop your talents and abilities into useful services that benefit you and others.
